How Clash of Clans Loot Works

Loot value is more complicated than the big number shown before an attack. Available loot depends on stored resources, treasury, collection buildings, Town Hall level differences, caps, and whether the army can actually reach the valuable compartments.

Understanding those mechanics makes farming more efficient because you stop chasing bases that look rich but cost too much time, elixir, or hero health.

Available loot is not total loot

The defender may have more resources than you can steal. Clash of Clans limits stealable storage amounts and can apply penalties when Town Hall levels differ. This is why two bases with similar visible resources can produce different rewards.

What good farmers check

  • Whether collectors and drills look full.
  • Whether storages are reachable without a full army commitment.
  • Whether the Town Hall gap creates a penalty.
  • Whether heroes are needed or can be saved for the next attack.
  • Whether the army cost is low enough for the reward.

Farming efficiency

The best farming target is not always the richest base. A slightly lower reward with easy access can be better than a huge reward buried behind a difficult layout.

FAQ

Why do I see different loot on similar bases?

Storage distribution, collectors, treasury, and Town Hall differences can all change the amount available to steal.

Is dark elixir always worth chasing?

It depends on army cost and hero goals. Expensive dark elixir armies can cancel out part of the benefit.
